An initiative to protect entrepreneurs and property owners from cross-border persecution and the use of international legal mechanisms as tools of pressure.
The Problem
Entrepreneurs and property owners may face pressure that crosses national borders. Risks may involve international wanted notices, extradition proceedings, and access to legal assistance and financial services.
Proposed Actions
IAE proposes documenting such cases, conducting expert and legal assessments of the circumstances, and supporting safeguards against the politically motivated use of international mechanisms.
The initiative also envisages working with relevant institutions and specialists to raise awareness of transnational repression and its consequences.
